How to Find the Abortion Pill Reversal

If you’ve taken the first abortion pill (mifepristone) and are now having second thoughts, there may still be time to continue your pregnancy. Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) is a process that uses progesterone to potentially reverse the effects of the first drug, and it may offer a second chance.

At Mendo Lake Women’s Clinic, we can connect you with the help you need to begin the APR process. This care is provided at no cost to you. Time is critical, so don’t wait—call us during business hours at (707) 463-1436 or text us at (707) 272-3051. You can also reach out to the Abortion Pill Rescue Network for 24/7 support.

How Does Abortion Pill Reversal Work?

A medical abortion typically involves two drugs:

  • Mifepristone blocks progesterone, a hormone necessary to sustain pregnancy.
  • Misoprostol is taken later to cause uterine contractions and expel the pregnancy.

If only mifepristone has been taken, APR treatment can potentially counteract it by providing extra progesterone through oral, vaginal, or injection methods.

APR is most effective when started within 24 hours, but there have been successful outcomes up to 72 hours after taking mifepristone. Studies suggest a 64% success rate when treatment begins promptly.

Is It Safe?

Yes—progesterone is a natural hormone your body produces during pregnancy. It’s been used safely for over 50 years in fertility and pregnancy care, including for high-risk pregnancies and to help prevent miscarriage or preterm labor.
